Dispersion Analysis of Twist-Symmetric Dielectric Waveguides

چکیده
We propose a circular twist-symmetric dielectric waveguide that is polarization-selective. In the practical implementation of optical fibers, selective polarization more convenient than its linearly polarized counterpart where previous knowledge emitted from transmitter unknown. The analysis was conducted with three methods: an eigenmode approach, simulation truncated structure, and so-called multimodal transfer-matrix method (MMTMM). presented simulations demonstrate operational band can be manipulated by tuning parameters structure. Furthermore, MMTMM allows for direct accurate calculation attenuation constant rejected polarization.

Dielectric-lined cylindrical metallic THz waveguides: mode structure and dispersion.
Thin dielectric layers deposited on the inner surface of hollow cylindrical metallic waveguides for Terahertz (THz) waves reduce transmission losses below 1 dB/m. Impact of the dielectric layer on the waveguide dispersion is experimentally investigated by near-field mapping of guided short THz pulses at the input and the output of the waveguide. We obtain dispersion characteristics for the low-...

Regular boundary element method is employed for the variational formulation of Helmholtz equation that governs the waveguiding problems. Like in the Charge simulation method, in this method, the source points associated with the fundamental solutions are allocated outside the domain so that the singular integrals which occur in the standard boundary element procedure can be avoided. First, the ...
متن کامل2. Theory of Dielectric Waveguides
Dielectric waveguides are the structures that are used to confine and guide the light in the guided-wave devices and circuits of integrated optics. This chapter is devoted to the theory of these waveguides. Other chapters of this book discuss their fabrication by such techniques as sputtering, diffusion, ion implantation or epitaxial growth. A wellknown dielectric waveguide is, of course, the o...

New variational formulation to compute propagation constants is proposed. Based on it, vector finite element method is proved to exclude spurious modes provided finite elements possess discrete compactness property. Convergence analysis is conducted in the framework of collectively compact operators. Reported theoretical results apply to a wide class of vector finite elements including two fami...
متن کاملVectorial Integrated Finite-Difference Analysis of Dielectric Waveguides
AbstracfAn integrated finite difference approach is formulated for the full vector solution using transverse magnetic field components for dielectric waveguides, which is particularly suitable for nonuniform mesh and internal flux boundary conditions. This approach creates a sparse banded asymmetric matrix. Only few largest positive eigenvalues and the corresponding eigenvectors are calculated ...
